Adopt A Site

Are you wondering how you can participate in online missionary work as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? We have a solution for you!

The More Good Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to enabling everyday members of the Church to share their voice online and have a positive impact on the content that honest seekers find when they "Google" us! You've heard all the great hoopla about getting engaged in the conversation and not letting others define us and our beliefs, and you've probably been antsy to do something, but haven't known quite how to do it or what to do.

We have lots of ideas. But there is one we'd like to share with you here.

You can adopt one of our existing websites in an area of your interest and we will train you on how to 'care for, grow, and nurture the site'--it can be your own or a group's 'pet project' so-to-speak. We'll show you how to upload content, photos, videos, posts, if you don't already know how to do those things. You don't have to create the design or template, or host the site. We do that. You do not even know how to operate a site or upload content. We can show you that too. You do need to know how to type and have an interest in a particular topic that you would like to have shared online as a Mormon, and have a desire to add positive content to the Internet without being preachy or discussing only doctrinal things.

The more websites we have with positive content about us, the better. You can help by adopting a site!

Adoption has never been easier!

We will share with you a list of domain names that we have available, and you can choose an existing URL that needs a home, a lot of TLC (good content), a good master (willing to help it along), and we will guide you through the rest. For example, if you are obsessed with or much interested in single adult life, Mormon youth activities, German food, the Frankfurt Germany mission, the arts, or student life, we can create a website around those themes and have you share your thoughts, photos, videos, posts about that topic. The fact that you are a Mormon doing this means that people who visit the site will automatically learn more about who we are as a people, our diversity, our varied interests. This can often lead to further interest in our faith and serves in a significant and yet simple way to dispel misperceptions that are otherwise prevalent on the Net and in the media about us. You can share your interests online, and be an influence for good.

If you are interested, please contact the More Good Foundation, km@moregood.com or simply respond to this post. More information forthcoming.

If you would like to adopt a personal, family or group blog, you can do that as well. Think about it!

Hey, if Nephi had a blog :), or if 1st and 2nd Nephi were on blogger, what kinds of things would he write about? Yep, the things he knows and deals with on a regular basis--his family, his talent in building and metals, his siblings, his move to Bountiful, and how the Lord has worked in his life. You can create your own blog if that is what you'd like to do, or you can adopt one of our other topical sites or create a new site on something you have a passion about that would make a positive difference, and do so with our help. If you already have your blog, you can link to a new site we help you create and/or to our More Good Foundation sites.

We'll talk more I hope. All for now. Take care.
